You get a WhatsApp message from an unknown number. She's attractive, friendly, seems interested in you. Within hours, she's sent you a nude photo. Then she asks for one back. Then the blackmail starts.
This scam costs Pakistani men billions of rupees annually. Here's everything.
WhatsApp is the preferred platform for this scam because:
She doesn't need to hack your phone. She just needs you to add her to WhatsApp. Once you do, she can see your profile, your name, your "last seen", and sometimes your status. If you've ever used WhatsApp groups, mutual group members can be identified. She may cross-reference your number with Facebook or Instagram to find your family network.
Typical first demand: PKR 20,000–50,000. She sends screenshots showing her "about to send" the video to your contacts. She names your mother. She names your employer. She gives you a deadline.
Block her. Do not pay. Report to FIA: 0800-02345.
Every rupee you pay is a confirmation that you will pay again. Payment does not end this. It begins it.
Most operations move on. You are one of hundreds of targets they are running simultaneously. Following through on the threat costs them time and generates no money. They prefer the next target who will pay.
In a minority of cases they do send the video. If this happens: FIA can pursue under PECA Section 21. Tell your close contacts first so they understand context when/if they receive anything.
