The Live Video Scam — Pakistan

She starts a live video call. She undresses. She asks you to show yourself. You do. She records it. You never knew.

This is the single most common cybercrime targeting men in Pakistan. The FIA reports thousands of cases annually. Here is everything you need to know.

Why this scam is so effective

The scam exploits three things that are true of most men:

The criminal understands all three of these things and has engineered the entire interaction around them.

The fake live video variant

In many cases, the "woman" on the call is not live at all. She is a pre-recorded loop — a video played on repeat. The criminal is watching your camera, not appearing on one. This is why the woman may seem slightly unresponsive to what you say, or why the video quality is oddly consistent regardless of internet conditions.

Modern screen-recording tools can capture your camera output even when you think only a live call is happening.

The "girlfriend experience" variant

Some operations invest more time. They build a weeks-long relationship — texting daily, video calling regularly (always pre-recorded on their side), learning your name, your family situation, your employer. The eventual blackmail demand is calibrated to what you can realistically pay, based on everything they learned.

The organised crime reality

This is not one woman. This is typically a team: one person managing the "relationship" conversation, one running the recording operation, one handling the blackmail demands. Operations run from Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, and within Pakistan itself. FIA has identified and prosecuted several rings.

Red flags before the trap closes

Immediate steps if this happened to you

  1. Do not pay. This is the most important thing you can do.
  2. Block her on every platform immediately.
  3. Screenshot all messages and demand for evidence.
  4. Make your social media accounts private.
  5. Call FIA: 0800-02345 — free, 24/7, confidential.
  6. Tell someone you trust before they contact your family — remove the secret, remove the weapon.

Mental health

This is deeply distressing. Shame, panic, and suicidal ideation are reported by victims. You are not alone — this happens to thousands of men in Pakistan every year. The criminal is the criminal. You were deceived.

How Zinaaa prevents this

Zinaaa does not allow anonymous profiles. Every account is verified. Every user carries a public rating that persists. A criminal operation cannot build a reputation on Zinaaa the way it can on WhatsApp. The structural accountability eliminates the anonymity that these scams require.
