No Marriage Contract Gives Anyone The Right to Your Body
Islamic scholars across the world agree: a husband must treat his wife with kindness and respect. Coercion, force, and violence have no place in a marriage. If you are being forced or hurt, you deserve help.
What Is Marital Sexual Abuse?
- Being physically forced to have sex when you said no or were unable to consent
- Being threatened, blackmailed, or coerced into sexual acts
- Being physically hurt during sexual acts
- Continued assault after expressing pain, discomfort, or refusal
Your Rights and the Law
- Pakistan does not have a specific marital rape law โ but sexual violence within marriage can be prosecuted under PPC Section 376 (rape) if force was involved
- Physical injuries during sexual violence can be prosecuted under PPC Section 337 (hurt)
- Sexual violence within marriage is valid grounds for khula and dissolution of marriage
- Courts consider this under "cruelty" in divorce proceedings
- Legal reform is ongoing โ organisations like Aurat Foundation actively advocate for stronger protections
