What Is an Interfaith Dating Scam?

These scams involve individuals who:

Claim to be converting to your religion purely to gain trust or marriage
Use religious identity to bypass family objections and isolate the victim
Promise nikah/marriage then disappear or demand money/intimate content first
Fake conversion certificates or pretend to have converted to build trust
Once they have money, photos, or leverage — they vanish or begin blackmail

Red Flags to Watch For

Pushes for marriage or nikah very quickly — within weeks
"I've converted for you" — but has no knowledge of the religion in practice
Isolates you from family and friends who might question the relationship
Asks for intimate photos "as proof of trust" before any official commitment
Discourages you from meeting in person with family present
Makes promises about future but always has an excuse to delay
Financial requests framed as "for our future together"

Protecting Yourself

Meet in person with a trusted chaperone before any serious commitment
Verify identity — full name, CNIC, family contacts, place of work
Do not share intimate content with anyone you have not met and verified in person
Discuss religious conversion with a scholar or religious figure — not just the partner
Involve trusted family members early in any serious relationship
